PUDSEY - V.I.P. SCHOOL OF MOTORING

Home

My success is based on great customer service, use of a modern new car, patience and a thorough knowledge of D.S.A. test marking procedures and local driving test routes. I started as a professional Driving Instructor in 1998, initially with BSM for three years before starting up my own driving school. Driving Instructors are periodically assessed by our governing body and I have always been awarded a grade 5 (proof can be supplied) which puts me in the top 26% of instructors by grade. Andrew Broadbent D.o.T. A.D.I.

When I was asked to take part in a BBC1 programme, Mirror Signal Manoeuvre, I jumped at the chance. The programme followed a pupil through her last few lessons before taking the Driving Test. We both enjoyed the experience very much and I was happy for the public to see how I conduct driving lessons.

Mostly I use the new Thornbury Test Centre for driving tests. I can boast that I have a pass rate of 64 - 65% over the past two years (proof can be supplied on first lesson) compared with 29.4% average pass rate at Thornbury (published as 29.4% in 2011 which seems to be the most accurate stats to date),. My base is very close to the Thornbury Test Centre and I have a good working knowledge of the test routes, and the Driving Standards Agency's test marking criteria.

I turn up on time and I don't take phone calls during a lesson. You get one full hour driving on a route to match your ability on each and every lesson. I give a great deal of thought to setting goals and matching the route and lesson content to your needs, the goals will be challenging but achievable. I only cancel lessons due to mechanical failure which is a rare event indeed.

I use petrol cars as I find that diesel cars handle significantly differently to their petrol counterparts. I do find that people who learnt in a petrol car have little in the way of problems adjusting to a diesel, but not necessarily when it's the other way round.

Any training car I use will be clean and tidy and less than one year old, and will have dual controls.

To ensure high standards, I do not employ any other instructors. This has the added benefit to customers, in that I can build a rapport with clients over the time they spend learning to drive. Not all my pupils are aged 17, nervous or mature pupils are just as welcome.
